Field Aerial Technician - Rigger | Canada

JOB
SUMMARY:
Field Aerial Technician -Riggers perform the installation, repair and maintenance all related wireless telecommunications equipment. They ensure the general procedures regarding programming and commissioning, and they work with equipment from various manufacturers.


REQUIREMENTS:             

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a technician or in wireless telecommunications
  • Experience with different testing equipment/devices and procedures and OTDR
  • Ability to climb heights
  • Must be available to travel to remote locations for periods up to 4 weeks
  • Good manual skills and ability to use tools and devices
  • Ability to work under pressure and work as a team
  • Passionate
  • Hold a driving license in good standing

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Have a college degree in Communications/Electronics or equivalent experience.
  • Having a good knowledge and experience in programming, upgrading and equipment commissioning as an asset.
  • Have a certificate in safety climbing and rescue training and basic first aid training is an asset
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Supervisory experience is an asset



RESPONSIBILITY:              

  • Climb and work on poles, towers, ladders or other support structures
  • Work safely at all times
  • Remove, install, and repair aerial telecommunication transmission and distribution antenna, equipment, and associated hardware
  • Remove, install, and repair various types and sizes of telecommunication cables and lines including fibre optic, coaxial and DC power
  • Perform commissioning of the equipment
  • Perform various audits and tests, upgrades and maintenance when required
  • Perform repairs and emergency repairs and restore services when required
  • Analyze and record test results and prepare site acceptance documentation
  • Read and understand instructions to the work order and plans
  • Assist the team leader/foreman in his duties as required
  • Apply the rules of Health and Safety at work
  • Perform other related duties
